Now I've finally managed to buy myself a van, it's time to say goodbye to my Honda Civic Type R. I'm really sad to see it go, but I simply cannot afford to run this along side my van and Peugeot 205 GTi :(. It's been an absolutely brilliant car, never missed a beat and extremely fun to drive. It's definitely going to be missed... After landing a job driving buses when I turned 19, I managed to save up enough money to afford the car (and insurance) I wanted for a very long time, a Honda Civic Type R EP3. I managed to find one at a local car dealership, literally a mile up the road from me, and purchased it for about £3200 with about 90k miles on it. The insurance was a sting though, the lowest quote I managed to get was around £1600 from Admiral, but that didn't stop me buying it as I just loved the car so much. Honda Civic Type R EP3 Facts & Figure
The Civic was in decent condition but as soon as I got it home I began work on cleaning it up, inside and out. It's amazing how all the little things make such a big difference! The new Type R badge was bought from Halfords which is why it looks slightly different. I began with a few simple "modifications". First off was a basic K&N open cone air filter which made the VTEC sound absolutely insane! (Don't worry, the tie wraps holding the breather hose on were just a temporary thing while I search for a jubilee clip small enough to fit it as the original one broke when I removed it...) I also jumped on the tow bar band wagon with a red Password JDM tow bar, which after 2 years of being on the car, is now pink! The above photo shows one of the rare occasion where both of my babies were out together (in the rain!!). Sadly I haven't had a lot of time or money to pump into the 205.
I'm going to split this story into about 3 parts, the next post will show the major transformation the Civic went through. See you soon! Comments are closed.
