Welcome to part 2 of my goodbye post to my Honda Civic Type R. This post is going to be quite picture heavy. While I was away on a family holiday to Disney World in Florida, I booked my car in to a friends bodyshop to have quite a lot of work done on it. Click here to view their Facebook page and see all of their amazing work. They do a lot of work on expensive high performance cars and are second to none, and I had total faith in them to give me the best finish possible, and they didn't disappoint! First of all I had a Mugen (replica) splitter fitted to the bumper, which made the car look a lot more aggressive. It was a cheap(ish) fibreglass splitter bought off Ebay, and required a bit of modification to make it fit to the original bumper properly. It was then painted and put onto the car. Then came the bodywork cleanup and respray. The bumper and front wings had quite a few stone chips and the doors had the usual (annoying!) dints that more than likely came about in supermarket car parks. I also had a bit of work done on the rear bumper and boot, but I didn't get any pictures of this while the work was in progress. Next up came the wheel refurb and paint. I saw an Civic on one of the owners forums with a similar paint style to this and I absolutely loved it, so I had mine done (but changed them ever so slightly to be different). I had around the wheels painted with a red that was almost identical to the Type R style red to match it to the car, and the rest painted gloss black. Photos of the progress below. I didn't want the outside of the car looking spectacular without touching the interior, so I had a few of the plastic bits painted. These were done with a new marble effect technique the bodyshop had just started doing, and they turned out a hell of a lot better than I thought they would. I also bought a new Pioneer double din which looked amazing built into the centre console. The photo below shows it in action, playing a drifting DVD. The photos really don't do it justice. And there we go! As you can see below the end result was absolutely stunning, the guys at Body & Tuning did an amazing job and coming home from America to this was fantastic! The car was also detailed straight after all the work, and it was immaculate! That concludes the second part of my Type R story, the third and final part will show off the various modifications the car got (I just need to get the photos off my broken iPhone somehow!).
Hope your enjoying the story so far, see you soon!
